The Glory Days

We are living in the glory days

Both kids are still napping. And at the same time.

Our weekends are mostly free to do whatever we please.

No one has homework or tests.

  Harper is fit and healthy.

The kids take lessons and classes for fun not because they have to.

Preschool starts at a reasonable hour of 9:00.

Bath time is leisurely and full of princess squirt toys and race cars.

The days start and end with a warm cuddle.

Things are changing, though, some for the better some for the worse.

Bennett will eventually be out of diapers but Orelia will ease out of taking naps.

We are not taking strollers with us much anymore, but "uppies" are still required at the end of an outing.

Orelias biggest concerns are just starting to elevate from where is my Elsa gown to why did that person say mean words to me at the park?

Orelia tells us she loves us all day every day and Bennett is just learning to say "I wub wou" in the sweetest way possible.

Both kids are old enough to play at a park but not so old that it bores them to tears.

Bennett is almost ready for a big boy bed, which makes traveling easier, but bed time a little more stressful.

Orelia is just getting old enough for sleepovers, which means we will need to start hosting some too (let's hope our guests eat toast or cold cereal).

Orelia and I cried in each other's arms the other night when she realized one day her mommy, daddy, and dog would all die. She's getting older and wiser, but sometimes ignorance is bliss.

Both kids are still so young - at 2 and 4 they still have so much to learn, but luckily they can do at least a little bit on their own too.

Some moments are tough, but these glory days are mostly full of sweetness.
