Recital Gal

Orelia was taking two ballet classes this fall, so in December she had two recitals complete with makeup, flowers, and costumes.

That's pretty much heaven for this kid.  (The ballet stuff she is okay with, but the recital perks are worth living for.)

At her first recital she performed to "Spoonful of Sugar" with two of her best pals.

Daddy was in China for this recital, so I made sure to upload the video right away for him to watch.  It's hilarious, as one would expect from a three-year-old performing in a recital.

Later in December, she had her second recital.  For this one she got to have her mommy, daddy, grandpa, aunt and uncle to watch!

She was thrilled.

This was a casual performance at a high school stage for just their class, so I got to watch them get ready and put on their makeup and body glitter (ha!).

The first dance was to "Rockin' Robin," and they fluttered around the stage like little birds.

Orelia's favorite dance was the second one - the "hip hop" dance - to "Call Me Maybe."  (Clearly this is not a hip hop song, but for some reason that's what they call this type of dance for little girls.)

She got to put her attitude on display and loved it.

Half the class was actually absent for the recital, but we got a great group picture anyway.  The teacher asked each kid how they wanted to pose, and then arranged them.  (I especially love the one girl essentially punching the girl next to her.)

These kids were hilarious up there.

We absolutely adore our ballet instructor, Teacher Nadeen, who has taught Orelia everything she knows about dance and has put up with her antics for about a year now.

Recitals are a blast and it was so much fun having two this winter!
